American Truckers Association

Washington, DC

Scope

Located three blocks south of the U.S. Capitol Building, American Trucking Associations’ Capitol Hill office building involved the renovation of a 1970’s office building and the restoration of two historically contributing structures. Restoring a historic streetscape and front-yard feeling to the residential district was paramount. The design replaces what was once an amalgam of retaining walls, fences, and parking lots, with a terrace for the client’s use, and a plaza and small park for the neighborhood, at the intersection with one of D.C.’s characteristic diagonal avenues. The project involvement included schematic site design and ongoing construction documentation and administration.
