Completed in 2004, Crystal Towers, a group of 1960's
high rise residential buildings, presented great challenges in its revitalization.
The complicated nature of the existing structure and the introduction of a new
heated pool required close collaboration between the design team and consultants
in order to achieve the design intent. Select existing plant material was preserved
and incorporated into a modern design that features a fountain with a detailed
sculpture highlighted by water jets and a 300 foot curved metal arbor. A grove
of saucer magnolias over a carpet of mondo grass creates a serene retreat within
the plaza. Project involvement included conceptual design, construction drawings
and construction administration.
