The design of the Carlson residence includes a rear terrace and front entry walk, a decorative gate element which seperates the rear and front yards and a carriage house to the side of the main home. On the top floor of the carriage house is a studio loft with a private entrance to the rear. Below the studio is a one car garage. Architectural alterations and improvements were done to the main house to establish visual consistency between the two structures.
