Marymount University Ballston Center approved by Arlington County Board

02.10.2014

The redevelopment of the Blue Goose in Ballston hit a major milestone with the Arlington County Board’s approval of Marymount University’s expansion at 1000 N. Glebe Road.

Marymount University Ballston Center will provide a new landmark both for the eastern gateway to Ballston and to Marymount University. The program includes a tower fronting Fairfax Drive with both leasable office space and specialized University programs. Also included in the development is a second tower with apartment living frames, the centrally located semi-public “commons”, and the public plaza at the intersection of Fairfax Drive and Glebe Road. Detailed attention was given to creating an integrated site design while simultaneously accommodating institutional, private residential, and public space needs. The public plaza features blue seating and lighting accompanied by panels detailing the history of the Blue Goose.
