Gingertown 2012

STUDIO39 made a strong showing at the annual “Gingertown” event on Monday night on Connecticut Avenue in DC. This annual fundraiser was created by David M. Schwarz Architects in 2006 and challenges participants to build a gingerbread house in four hours or less.  STUDIO39 was in charge of building the immensely important “Oh Henry” Literary Society.  Land designer Sandy Scocozzo was the project manager of the operation. “Sandy really understands the history of gingerbread house design…. I think that will pay dividends in the end. ” – Andrew Trimble

Sandy’s hard work in the planning stages and attention to detail were vital to the teams success and the gorgeous final product.  The team followed their fearless leader and built an astounding structure influenced by Ancient Greek Architecture.  The breathtaking classical bulding featured candy cane column entry ways, tall pretzel windows, and a balcony.  It stood approximately 15″ high including the dome and was extremely sound, even under the immense weight of m&m’s, licorice, pretzels, candy canes, and of course Oh Henry bars.  The future is bright for this gingerbread making squad, though we will have to wait another 12 months to see their architectural genius in action once again.
