With a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Virginia Tech and a professional background in architecture, Paul has become a natural complement to STUDIO39 and its multifaceted team of designers.
During his time at Virginia Tech, Paul took part in an exchange program with Tongji University in Shanghai, China. Alongside an international peer group, he engaged in studies centered on architecture, planning, and exploration of the urban environment. For him, this experience remains the benchmark of pace, density, and overall scale of urbanization.
Following his 2013 graduation, Paul has worked as a Research Assistant at the College of Architecture as well as an Architectural Intern at an office in his hometown of Roanoke, Virginia.
Paul belief in Landscape Architecture is perhaps most succinctly captured in a passage written by David Leatherbarrow in his book ‘Is Landscape Architecture?’
“The task of architecture, designed landscapes, and urban design as topographical arts is to provide the patterns of our lives with durable dimension and beautiful expression.”
Since relocating to Alexandria, Paul has gotten involved with a bicycle cooperative where he volunteers his time restoring donated bicycles and promoting cycling as a practice of self-reliance.
