Kelly’s curiosity in landscape architecture began at an early age while taking camping and boating trips around the country with her family. Later, her adventure began at Iowa State University where she received a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree. Attending college in a rural town made her enthusiastic about sustainable agriculture, urban farming, edible gardening, and green roof design which, in turn, developed her passion for gardening and cooking. During ISU’s program, she was able to caravan cross country with her classmates for six weeks, camping in national parks while studying historical, cultural, and native landscapes. Given the opportunity to take a semester away, she then studied abroad in Cork, Ireland. Here she was exposed to European culture and design throughout her travels, only encouraging her constant travel bug.

During her free time, Kelly enjoys cooking just about anything and everything for her friends and family, running (marathons on occasion), cruising on her bike to the local farmer’s markets, and catching a show at the 9:30 Club in D.C.
